Superintendent Dr. Williams told the Thomasville City Schools Board of Education that, after “thoughtful discussion and careful consideration,” he and the district have mutually agreed to end his service as superintendent effective April 27, 2026.
The superintendent said he was proud of ‘‘strengthen[ing] the district's financial oversight and budgeting practices’’ and pointed to a three‑year strategic plan, changes to the teacher supplement structure and ‘‘measurable academic growth’’ across the district as accomplishments during his tenure. “Serving this community has both been meaningful and rewarding,” he said.
Board members offered tributes and thanks. Miss Sellers (board member) and others thanked Dr. Williams for his service. One board member said she did not support the board’s decision to accept the resignation and praised Williams’ leadership, saying he brought ‘‘direction, stability, and a clear vision’’ and assembled ‘‘a team of strong, capable leaders.’’
The board recorded a motion and voice vote earlier during the personnel portion of the meeting to accept the personnel item tied to the superintendent; the chair stated that the motion carried. The board acknowledged Dr. Williams will continue to serve through his final day and that he committed to supporting a seamless handoff.
The board did not announce a replacement or a timeline for a search at the meeting. The next procedural step the board took at the same session was to move on to recognitions and informational items.
