At the May 26 meeting, Crawford Gingrich of the Pennsylvania School Safety Institute presented the 2026 Marcus Scholarship to Chambersburg Area Senior High student Natalie Echelman and described her academic and extracurricular achievements.
Gingrich said the Marcus Scholarship recognizes students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public safety, criminology, forensics or similar fields who have demonstrated leadership in high school. He noted Echelman’s nearly 5.0 weighted GPA, top‑10 class ranking among more than 600 students, leadership roles (band section leader, Special Olympics treasurer, Latin Club vice president), community service and work for the Franklin County Library System. Gingrich presented Echelman with a one‑time $5,000 award to support her planned forensic sciences studies.
The board and audience offered congratulations. The presentation was listed on the agenda as part of recognition and awards.
