EDC members heard staff estimate the upgrade could reduce the patio's seasonal capacity loss (currently 30–40% during bad weather), expand year‑round event programming and private rentals, support year‑round staffing and potentially create new jobs. Staff said the Economic Development Commission on July 14, 2025 had unanimously recommended approval of the BEA grant contingent on project completion to code and documentation of payments.
A representative of More Brewing answered trustees' operational questions about how the sides and roof would operate and said the proposed system is designed to keep the space usable in adverse conditions. Trustees asked clarifying questions about the project's look and year‑round functionality; the petitioner described the system as designed to preserve the open‑air feel while providing enclosed protection during storms.
The committee voted to forward the $50,000 BEA grant request to the next village board meeting agenda for consideration; no final board funding decision was made at the committee level.
