Superintendent: enrollment steady at 80; Open Ed shows 651 interested families as district prepares for fall

Superintendent Aaron reported that enrollment remained the same as last month at 80 students and provided an operational update on Open Ed recruitment, district technology and facilities.
"Enrollment same as last month, no gain, no loss. 80 headcount," Aaron told the board. He said Open Ed's tracking showed roughly 1,000 families originally expressing interest and that the vendor now lists 651 families as still interested. The superintendent cited an earlier estimate from a prior presenter (Grant) that about 60% of interested families in other areas typically convert to full enrollments, which the board used as context while budgeting.
The board discussed timing and logistics: final Open Ed enrollment rosters do not arrive until after July and district staff said it takes about 15— 20 minutes per student to enter records into Skyward. To handle that workload the district approved a personal-services approach as part of the consent agenda rather than relying on in-house classified staff whose work year has ended.
Aaron also updated the board on facilities and operations: the final gym design has been selected and bleachers are scheduled to be delivered mid-July; the gym floor sanding, painting and ceiling work are underway. For the athletic field, staff said an interlocal agreement with the water district will allow permanent power to the scoreboard rather than using a generator. The superintendent also noted the district's buses passed inspection per a letter from OSPI and praised the transportation team.
The board heard that the district will migrate from BoardDocs to a Diligent-branded interface after the BoardDocs acquisition; staff are being trained and hope to operate on the new platform by June or July. No formal board action on Open Ed enrollments or facilities funding was taken; the discussion was informational and focused on operational readiness for fall.
