Easton School District board approves consent agenda; audit shows funds 'just over a million'

The Easton School District board approved its consent agenda, including the hiring of Ryan Anderson as a self-studies and English teacher, and accepted a staff-recommended personal services agreement to assist with Open Ed data entry, board members said.

In a fiscal update presented to the board, Nicole, a district staff member responsible for financial reporting, said the district's general fund is "just over a million dollars" and that the district is about 66% through the fiscal year. "We just completed our audit ... it looked pretty clean," Nicole said, reporting that auditors asked staff to reclassify a private-purpose trust fund for library scholarships into a permanent fund for correct year-end reporting.

Staff provided additional fund balances: the capital projects fund with an ending fund balance of $316,000, the ASB fund at $44,000 and the transportation vehicle fund at $129,000. The transcript records a line for the debt service fund as "$31" with no activity; the entry appears incomplete in the record and is notated as unclear in district minutes.

The board discussed staffing needs tied to Open Ed enrollment: because final enrollment lists from Open Ed do not arrive until after July, the district may use a personal-services agreement to enter student data into Skyward; staff said data entry can take about 15— 20 minutes per student. The consent agenda motion passed on a voice vote; the record shows the motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice but does not include a roll-call tally.

The board did not receive any public comment on the budget items during the meeting.
