Amy McKini, director of planning and community development, said the committee was assembled to provide geographic and sector balance (urban, suburban and rural stakeholders plus representatives from economic development, transit, historical organizations, conservation, disability services and business owners). She said the county signed a contract with consultant Strategic Solutions and scheduled an initial meeting for the first week of June.
The list presented to the board includes representatives from county community action, historical society, transit authority, local chambers and municipal planning commissions; staff noted one invitee had not yet confirmed. Commissioners Sonado, Kennedy and Bogler approved Resolution 98 by unanimous roll call.
Why it matters: The comprehensive plan will guide county policy for the next decade, influencing land use, economic development, transportation and conservation. A balanced steering committee is intended to ensure the plan reflects diverse local priorities.
