Mechanicsburg board honors students named to All‑State ensembles

The Mechanicsburg Area School District board opened its May 26 working session by recognizing students who earned places in All‑State music ensembles. Mr. Kosowski introduced the honorees and explained the multi‑stage audition process that leads to All‑State selection.
The students — Ian Brookmeer, Jonah Savant and Marbeth Dugan, all seniors, and sophomore Emily Miller — approached the board to state their names, instruments and the ensembles in which they placed. "They have to go through a very competitive and rigorous system to be eligible for these All‑State ensembles," Mr. Kosowski told the board, describing district and regional auditions and festival performances.
The board thanked music teachers and staff for supporting student practice time and preparation. Seniors who spoke said they plan to continue studies after graduation: one reported plans for a music‑education major, another listed architecture with a minor in music, and a third said she will pursue a non‑music major while remaining involved in voice.
Board members said the recognition highlights extracurricular excellence and the district’s investment in fine arts. The working session then moved on to budget and policy items.
