Chadron council unanimously approves street certification, parade permit and clerk pay increase

Council discussed certification classes and reimbursement levels; the council noted that Dustin is pursuing Class A certification, which carries a higher reimbursement than his current Class B status.
Resolution 2025-99, moved by Mark Graves and seconded by Shane Shepard, authorizes temporary use of U.S. Highway 20 at the intersection with Main Street for the 2025 Parade of Lights on Dec. 4, 2025. Council described the event as an annual community parade sponsored by a local communications group and approved the temporary street use.
The council also approved a combined 1.5% cost-of-living and 1.5% merit increase for the city clerk, moving the hourly rate from $30.00 to $30.90. The motion was moved and seconded during the meeting and approved by roll call.
Other routine business approved by roll call included payment of claims on the presented list, approval of the consent agenda (which included meeting minutes and an occupation tax report), and excusing Councilmember Clay Anderson from the meeting for a family matter. Each recorded roll call for the formal votes in the meeting showed affirmative votes from Councilmembers Graves, Alexi, Klein and Shepard.
