IT unveils AI translator tablets and cyber-training plans for staff and public

He said the city has rolled out an AI translator tablet at front counters to help non-English speakers interact with staff and that the IT team plans to load policies and standard operating procedures into an AI backend so employees can get quick, chat-style answers to routine HR and operations questions. "We've implemented an AI translator tablet for the PCD ... it allows them to ask the tablet questions and it allows them to communicate back and forth with who's ever at the desk," Chip said.
Chip told residents the department applied for the state/local cybersecurity grant (SL CPG) to fund enhanced disaster recovery and that the city adopted the Nova cyber-training platform for onboarding and ongoing staff training. He also described public-facing smart display boards and plans to make monthly technology-training courses available to staff and the public.
