Captain Whitehead, speaking for the Forest Park Police Department and code-compliance unit, briefed residents on year-to-date Part I crime statistics for Ward One and described ongoing inspections.
"As it relates to robberies, there's only been one; one assault, seven burglaries, three motor-vehicle thefts, one auto, and 20 thefts," Whitehead said, clarifying the figures are year-to-date from Jan. 1 through the meeting date.
He also described code-compliance work focused on assisted-living facilities to ensure lighting, grounds, parking and trash are addressed, and on shopping plazas and residential areas. Whitehead identified 4233 Jonesboro Road as a property where multiple violations were documented; the city issues notices of violation and typically grants additional time to cure before issuing citations.
The captain invited residents to raise questions after the recorded remarks and encouraged them to submit issues to department staff for follow-up.
Why it matters: Year-to-date crime figures and the code-compliance effort provide residents context about public-safety trends and how the city enforces property and nuisance standards.
What's next: Residents with concerns were told to contact the department; the captain said inspectors routinely follow up and that citations are issued when properties do not come into compliance.
