LPRB reviews property updates, outreach plans and program materials; liaison reports compost facility and road closure

At its June 20 meeting the Land Preservation Review Board received multiple administrative and program updates, including property-status reports, outreach planning and program materials for publication and events.
Land Preservation Program Coordinator Laura Brown told the board that the environmental assessment for 6623 Carlisle Pike (Tax ID #38-07-0459-014) has been completed and that surveyors have been on site; the board is awaiting the survey results. The board also recorded that a title search has been requested for 493 Sample Bridge Rd. (Tax ID #38-04-0367-061).
Laura Brown and board member Vince DiFilippo are preparing a presentation to encourage other townships to create land preservation programs; that presentation is scheduled for July 8, 2024, before the Western Cumberland Council of Governments. Carl Machamer, the Board of Supervisors liaison, said he will follow up with Rob Kole of Dickinson Township; Vince DiFilippo will contact Kirk Stoner at the county about the Cumberland Conservation Collaborative and outreach to South Middleton Township.
Sharon Wevodau reported progress on the One Thousand Acres celebration book and said she purchased a new digital camera to photograph preserved lands; she plans to pursue Tom Keller and then KB Kidz for sample chapter work. The board discussed possible photo locations for a land preservation pamphlet and considered purchasing a banner; Laura Brown will resend website information to J. L. Bruner for coordination.
On finance, the board reviewed financial statements and noted a PLGIT/TERM investment will mature on August 22, 2024. The board discussed re-sequencing agendas and determined no changes were necessary.
In his liaison report, Carl Machamer told the board there are liability concerns related to a Joint Compost Facility; he announced a groundbreaking ceremony at Paul Walters Park on July 17 at 11:00 a.m. He also reported that a new township police officer, Andrew Smith, was sworn in, and that Hempt Road is closed to through traffic for bridge replacement and will remain closed for at least three months.
The board entered executive session at 7:03 p.m. and reconvened at 8:40 p.m.; minutes record no public comments during the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:44 p.m.
