The LSU Board of Supervisors on April 10 approved an employment agreement extending Vice President and Director of Athletics Verge Ausberry through Dec. 31, 2030, with scheduled base compensation that rises from $1.5 million to $1.7 million in the final year and customary postseason and academic incentives.
Board members also approved term sheets and employment agreements for several key athletics positions. The board authorized a three‑year agreement for senior deputy and executive director for external relations Keith Schroyer; a three‑year, $1 million contract for football general manager Billy Glasscock; and a seven‑year agreement for men’s head basketball coach Will Wade, beginning at $4 million with escalators and a $4.5 million plateau in later years. The board likewise approved assistant coaching and staff contracts for men’s and women’s basketball assistant coaches and extensions for long‑standing staff such as associate head coach Bob Starkey.
Athletics director Verge Ausberry, who spoke to supervisors after the roll call vote, framed the work as personal and mission-driven: "This has never been a job for me. This has been a passion for me," he said, noting long ties to the institution and the emotional impact of daily work with students.
The committee also moved to adjust season ticket and parking prices for men’s and women’s basketball ahead of the 2026 seasons. Season‑ticket increases range from roughly $25 to $400 depending on seat location (about $1.39–$2.22 per game in the PMAC for men’s basketball), while women’s basketball season‑ticket increases were set between $25 and $100 and parking increases from $50 to $100. Administrators said the adjustments remain below many SEC peers and reflect strong renewed demand following recent coaching hires and program success.
The votes were unanimous or passed without objection during the Athletics Committee and full board sessions.
What’s next: With contracts finalized, athletics staff said they will proceed with onboarding and donor outreach tied to the coaching transitions. Ticketing and parking changes take effect for the 2026 season as announced by LSU Athletics.
