Leaders from Garrard Middle School presented program and student-achievement highlights to the Garrard County Board of Education, emphasizing instructional consistency, extracurricular success and student supports.
The principal reviewed the school’s instructional framework designed to align lessons, assessments and formative data, saying the approach aims to increase student engagement and accountability. The presentation noted several recent and upcoming competitive successes: multiple JAG students qualified for national competition, the archery team advanced to nationals after a state championship, the academic team will compete at state, and band students received distinguished ratings with several earning all-state or all-district honors.
Counseling and school-culture initiatives described included one-minute student surveys to gather student feedback, implementation of PBIS with rewards and incentives, an expanded slate of roughly 40 student clubs to boost participation, and a scheduled Friday break intended to address student mental fatigue. The presenters framed extracurriculars and PBIS as tools to support social-emotional learning and build school belonging.
The board thanked school leaders for the update and for highlighting ways the school is engaging students academically and socially.
