The contract includes a $260,000 base salary on a five‑step schedule, a $2,500 annual car allowance, a 1% TSA contribution and a $1,250 master’s degree stipend. Trustees emphasized Anderson’s local ties and prior work on district committees.
Why it matters: Anderson will replace Superintendent Tom Janice, who is retiring after 13 years of service to the district (11 as superintendent). Board members said continuity is important for the district’s academic performance and fiscal stability and that Anderson’s experience in nearby districts and local involvement made her the leading candidate.
Trustees praising Anderson noted her prior committee work in Granite Bay and connections to families in the district. Trustee Jeff moved to approve the employment agreement; Trustee Renee seconded the motion and the board approved it.
“Eureka has a long tradition of excellence, and I am proud to be joining a district with such talented educators and leaders,” Anderson said after the vote, thanking trustees and Superintendent Janice. She introduced family members who attended the meeting and said she looks forward to “listening, learning, and working closely with the board and our school community to continue building on that strong foundation.”
Janice, the outgoing superintendent, who was honored earlier in the meeting, told trustees he looked forward to “handing the baton off to the next superintendent” and said the district is well positioned for the transition.
What’s next: Anderson will begin on May 1 and the district said it will coordinate overlap time with Janice before his departure later in the month. The board recorded the motion and vote at the meeting; contract details were made available to trustees at their request.
