Odessa High students highlight FCCLA growth; national qualifier heads to Washington

Ann Skelton, Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Odessa High School, presented an FCCLA update and introduced senior members who described chapter activities, service projects and fundraising. "This is my third year and we have grown quite a bit," Skelton said, outlining how the chapter participates in regional and national conferences and competitive events.
Students described recent work: visits with middle‑school students to recruit new members, a student‑run 'paw shop' with donated items, and a string of fundraisers that included blanket sales and "candy grams" to help pay dues and travel expenses. One student highlighted that the blankets were sold for $25 with half returned to the chapter and that sashes and cords will be worn at graduation for the first time.
The board and attendees congratulated the chapter and asked how to support fundraising; the adviser provided contact information and offered to deliver items. Skelton noted that Nora Eaton earned a state placing and will be representing OHS at the national competition in July in Washington, D.C.
