Superintendent highlights student successes; board approves college-credit agreement and personnel actions

Rup named Savannah Brown as this month’s FFA member of the month, highlighting her participation in district competitions and the National FFA Convention. "I want to congratulate Savannah for being this month's FFA member of the month," Rup said.
Rup summarized winter sports results: the junior-high eighth-grade boys basketball team finished 15–1 and were Three Rivers Conference champions; the girls were 13–2 and league runner-up. Several wrestlers (Brian Fulton, Spencer Shore, Lucas Shore, Braden Lewis) and swimmers (relay and individual qualifiers) advanced to sectional, district or state competition. Band and choir earned number-one ratings at OMEA districts and will advance to state competition. The superintendent also reported strong junior-high and high-school science-fair results with several students receiving superior ratings and scholarship awards.
On the superintendent consent agenda the board approved a College Credit Plus agreement with Edison for postsecondary course access, permission for FCCLA students to attend state competition and to travel to nationals in Washington, D.C., if they qualify, and a parent-transportation agreement. The board also approved routine personnel items: rescinding an intermittent FMLA request and approving supplemental coaching appointments, including a volunteer for softball and an assistant track coach (Kyle Roof).
Board members used their comments to congratulate students and volunteers, note strong community support from athletic boosters, and outline the superintendent-search timeline: a community survey closing Friday, applicant deadline April 3, interviews mid-April, and a goal to recommend a finalist in late April or early May.
Next steps: The board will review policy second readings next month and the superintendent and board will continue the search schedule as announced during board comments.
