The Rockville Centre Board of Education opened a public hearing on its district-wide safety plan at the April 28 work session and heard a brief update from Director of Security Dave.
Dave said the committee reviews the plan each year with parents, board members, teachers and administrators and that "the only significant changes... this year the state's requiring one, so we've added that to the safety plan as well as our reunification plan." He identified the director of security as available to answer questions and said the board could open the mic for visitors to comment on the safety plan.
Board members noted that Ms. Gruner and Mrs. Messier served as the board's representatives on the committee. No formal vote on the safety plan occurred at the meeting; the board opened the hearing to public comment and left the record open for discussion as required by district procedures.
