Daisy Baker program highlights flexible pathway to graduation for Farmington students

Ms. Heman introduced program highlights from Daisy Baker Learning Center and asked program instructor Shawna Hudson to describe how the district's Missouri Options and Night School provide an alternative path to graduation.

Hudson said the program emphasizes individualized pacing, consistent teacher guidance and life-readiness skills, supported by the Edgenuity platform to help students recover or earn credits. She introduced two recent graduates, Aniyah Madison and Jacob King, who described how the program allowed them to work at their own pace, increase confidence, and re-engage with school. "It made me realize that like when you graduate, there's more to it... it helps you in life," Jacob said. Aniyah said the program let her work at a pace that prevented her from falling behind.

Hudson and the graduates framed the program as relationship-driven: regular check-ins, mentorship and teacher support were credited with helping students persist and graduate. The presentation noted the program's partnership with Farmington High School and cited prior district persistence and graduation reporting as context. No formal board action was taken; the presentation was informational.
