Belton reports highest APR to date (83%); district cites gains in math and graduation, flags attendance

Dr. Mock presented an overview of the district's Annual Performance Report (APR), saying the district scored 83% this year ' the highest APR in the last four years ' which places the district in the fully accredited category.
"This past year's APR score is the highest we've seen at 83%," Dr. Mock said, and highlighted that the composite score draws on multiple years of data to show trends rather than a single-year snapshot.
Dr. Mock pointed to several strengths: improved math status and growth for both 'all students' and targeted student groups, increased growth points in math, and the district's maximum points in graduation. She also described expansion of career and technical education (CTE) pathways at Belton High School and said the district will have building-level APR presentations in January and February so the board can review preschool through high school data.
Attendance received 2 of 4 points under the continuous improvement category and was identified as the principal area for improvement; Dr. Mock said the district uses building-level attendance action plans and resources to support school leaders. She also described teacher-led pilots of instructional resources, continued professional development (including LETRS training), and the use of lab classrooms to share best practices.
Board members questioned the difference between "status" and "growth" measures and whether baselines change; Dr. Mock and staff explained that growth tracks individual students from a baseline (for example, a third-grade MAP score) across years to measure progress. The board requested continued updates and building presentations in the coming months.
