Danvers manager, clerk brief board on water‑main work, election schedule, grant and award

Town Manager Jill updated the Select Board on several operational items and community programs. She said water‑main replacement on Winham (Winnham) Street from Locust Street to the town line is scheduled to begin next week, weather permitting, and is expected to last approximately six months with work Monday–Friday from about 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; residents with questions should contact DPW.

Jill said the police department will receive a grant-funded speed trailer (crediting Lieutenant Sullivan for the application) and that Danvers Electric received RP3 Diamond recognition from the American Public Power Association, placing the utility in roughly the top 2% of U.S. public power utilities.

She highlighted community projects including a Danvers High School 'Wall of Heroes' initiative and reminded residents about a cultural council funding survey open through April 10. Jill also noted the town is hosting the governor’s conference on travel and tourism on March 24–25 and that select board members would offer a welcome message in printed materials.

The Town Clerk provided the board with the annual election update: the May 5, 2026 ballot is taking shape; nomination papers and signature deadlines remain (nomination signatures due March 24 by 5:00 p.m.; the warrant closes March 20 at noon); ballot placement will occur the following Thursday; there is one day of early voting on April 25 from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; and vote‑by‑mail applications are available.

Board members thanked staff and asked that the manager keep communication lines open about construction timing and committee meeting schedules.
