Shippensburg FFA officers report fundraising, service and membership growth to school board

Students from the Shippensburg FFA presented their year‑end report to the school board on May 26, outlining fundraisers, greenhouse work, community service and student leadership.
"My name is Emily Deal. I currently serve as the Shippensburg president of the FFA chapter," Emily Deal told the board and introduced the 2025–26 officer team. Officers described a busy year that included poinsettia and spring plant sales, greenhouse maintenance by horticulture classes, and fundraisers such as fruit and butter braid sales that subsidize trips, competition travel and chapter activities.
The chapter reported community service activities including making 21 tie blankets for troops, collecting toys for a Weston's toy drive that supports Hershey Hospital, an adopt‑a‑highway cleanup effort for more than 10 years, and volunteering at local nursing homes and a county farm event. Secretary Katie Sherk said the chapter’s 96th annual banquet drew more than 122 members and guests and included awards, scholarships and the induction of next year’s officer team.
Board members asked about the middle‑school exploratory club and how many high‑school members had started in that program; students said the club averages about 35 middle‑school participants and has helped recruitment into the high school chapter.
The board thanked the officers and advisors (including Mr. Kane and Mr. Stoner) for their work; students fielded questions about volunteer activities and explained processes such as making tie blankets for troops.
No board action was required; the presentation was accepted and the board moved to the next agenda item.
