Burleson County commissioners approve routine contracts, consolidate polling places and OK infrastructure permits

Burleson County Commissioners Court on March 28 approved a series of routine contracts, permits and administrative actions, including a 15% contingent-fee tax collection contract and a resolution to consolidate polling places for a May 7 special election.
The court voted unanimously to approve a contingent-fee contract with the law firm Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, LLP under Section 6.30 of the Texas Property Code for collection of delinquent property taxes, with notice posted in accordance with Section 2254 of the Texas Government Code. Commissioners also approved a separate contract for collection of delinquent taxes during the same meeting. Both motions were moved by Commissioner David Hildebrand and carried without opposition.
In election business, Commissioner Vincent Svec moved and Commissioner Carol Hill seconded a resolution to consolidate polling places for the May 7 special election and to add a temporary early voting branch at Snook Independent School District; the motion passed unanimously.
The court approved two right-of-way requests on County Road 103. Commissioner Dwayne Faust moved and Commissioner Vincent Svec seconded approval of a pipeline public road crossing permit for Chesapeake Operating LLC. Separately, the court approved Deanville Water Supply Corporation’s proposal to place a 2-inch waterline in the County Road 103 right-of-way after a motion by Commissioner David Hildebrand and a second by Commissioner Faust; both motions passed unanimously.
County officials also reissued Requests for Qualifications for a development engineer, setting a response deadline of April 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. The auditor reported monthly sales tax receipts of $99,306, a 17% increase from March 2021. Sheriff Hermes reported the jail census at 55 inmates and noted that April 10–16, 2022 is National Telecommunications Week.
Other routine business included acceptance of two donations — $30 on behalf of the Burleson Health Resource Center and $1,710 from United Way Brazos Valley for Caldwell motel fire victims — authorization for payment of county bills and the formal adjournment of the meeting. The court recorded that no executive session with County Attorney Susan Deski occurred.
The meeting was called to order by County Judge Keith Schroeder at 9 a.m. and adjourned after the listed actions were approved. The minutes were attested by County Clerk Anna L. Schielack.
