Ashland Cultural Council accepts minutes, reviews budget and ends pre-payments to grantees

Stacey Grant-Lewis, chair of the Ashland Cultural Council, called the Jan. 5 meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. The council voted to accept the minutes from Nov. 3 and Nov. 17, 2025. Secretary Donna Bresnick announced the next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2026.
Treasurer Angeles Dios reported a year-to-date balance of $11,054.49. After accounting for a $1,000 allocation for ACC-branded high school scholarships and $500 allocated to the council's administrative budget, the council recorded $9,554.49 available to allocate. Dios said the council has completed payments to Keefe and to the Library and that the Hopkinton Center for the Arts has submitted a request for $7,500; she will check with the town treasurer about that request.
The council agreed to change its payment practice: it will no longer pre-pay grantees. Future awards will be disbursed only after recipients provide the required documentation, the council said. Chair Stacey Grant-Lewis confirmed the policy shift during discussion of the grant timeline and payment conditions.
