The Watertown‑Mayer board opened its April 27 meeting by recognizing student achievements across several co‑curricular programs.
Mr. Samansky and coaches read the names of BPA (Business Professionals of America) members who competed at regionals and state; administration reported 34 BPA members competed at regionals, 25 advanced to state and 11 qualify for nationals in Nashville next week. Mock trial coach Sarah Sully described the team’s national invitation to the Empire Invitational in Philadelphia and a state runner‑up finish. Speech coach Amy Mant highlighted speech competitors who advanced to state (including Millie Linder, seventh in poetry) and students named to all‑state honors.
The board also named Ellie Leld as this year’s Athena Award recipient for a combination of athletic, academic and leadership contributions. Mayor Mike Dodge offered a brief welcome noting community projects and praising the hosting arrangement.
The recognitions portion of the meeting concluded before the board moved to action items.
