District to overhaul facilities handbook and advance roofing, HVAC and PAC projects

"Facility use is a cost recovery ... we're supporting it at about 50,000 a year now," he said, and staff will return with a staged plan to improve recovery without pricing out youth associations.
Superintendent Schuler reported that the district’s roofing project is moving toward bid advertisement: a mandatory pre‑bid meeting is scheduled for May 7 and bids are due May 21, with a board approval target at the June meeting and work to begin after July 1. He also described a completed facilities audit, a planned geothermal/HVAC assessment for the middle/high school complex and a best‑value RFP to modernize PAC lighting and sound as part of a broader pack modernization.
Board members asked for greater detail on fixed versus variable event costs, utility and custodial impacts, and comparisons to peer districts. Administration said they will return with refined cost estimates, benchmarking, and a multi‑year staging approach to implement handbook and fee changes.
Next steps include advisory‑council review of handbook proposals, finalized bid documents for the roofing project, and a report from the HVAC/geothermal assessment team for prioritization of capital work.
