MSAD 60 board approves administrator and teacher appointments, accepts retirements and resignations

The board also approved Ashley Swan Shabet for a second-grade teaching position at Hansen School and approved Riley Louder as the sixth-grade math teacher at Noble Intermediate. The board confirmed that the hires are certified for the positions discussed during the employment segment.
The board accepted retirements from Jamie Weber (special education teacher, 22 years in MSAD 60) and Rhonda Tweed (kindergarten teacher, 11 years in MSAD 60), with members offering praise for their service. The board accepted resignations from Jessica Spalding (assistant principal at Hansen School) and Angelina St. Paul (Noble Middle & High School grade-seven math teacher) and from Shelby Hagen, a music teacher at North Burwick and Nolton, who members said is leaving in part because of online harassment in local social-media groups. A board member urged the community to recognize the human impact of online comments.
The board approved a transfer of Elise Galuchia to a part-time assistant-principal role at Hansen School after her Nolton position was eliminated by budget; members discussed whether to reserve funds or otherwise prioritize Nolton staffing pending the outcome of the upcoming budget vote.
