"The science on school start times is clear," Holland told the board, urging action to improve attendance, behavior and mental health. She said her petition collected more than 60 signatures from district faculty, staff and parents.
Board members thanked Holland and asked that the topic be kept on the district’s radar; no formal action or vote on start‑time policy occurred at the meeting. Student board members and other speakers later discussed related issues—student incentives, school culture and the presence of the pledge of allegiance at some campuses—but those remarks were part of public comment and student forums rather than a policy vote.
Holland asked the board to commit to a formal review process and not let the issue drift without evaluation before the end of the school year. The board did not set a deadline during the meeting but invited continued dialogue and suggested staff follow‑up.
