Detective operations resulted in six arrests and the recovery of six firearms, two of which had obliterated serial numbers; the sheriff's report also included a seized ghost gun reported stolen from a neighboring jurisdiction's public-safety department. The sheriff noted training on active-shooter patrol response for seven officers and described recent retirements and new hires in the department.
The sheriff raised an administrative issue: under older procedures the sheriff's office may be responsible for serving foreclosure notices and related responsibilities when mortgages are in default. He advised homeowners to read instructions if they receive foreclosure paperwork and said the department would provide guidance if residents have questions.
During general public comment, Gunther Paul of Hagert Township asked the board about an assessment refund for a drain he said was never installed and urged the board to provide an answer. He said he did not want to pay for something that yielded no result and requested follow-up.
What happens next: The sheriff's office will continue its operations and training program; no formal board action on arrests or jail medical care was requested. The board did not resolve the assessment-refund question during the meeting and the public commenter was told to follow up with staff for an answer.
