Danvers HRI sets Pride dates and promotes Trans Day of Visibility events

Lieutenant Sullivan, reporting for the Pride subcommittee, said the police department’s Pride flag‑raising is set for Thursday, June 4 at 5:00 p.m. and the town’s Pride event will be Saturday, June 13 with a noon flag‑raising followed by a Pride party on the library lawn from 1 to 3 p.m. Sullivan said the committee has secured the returning food vendor from last year and a DJ and will reach out to vendors and resource organizations.
Committee members encouraged community members to attend two Trans Day of Visibility events: Danvers High School Prism’s event on Tuesday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at the Northshore Universalist (NSU) and a Northshore LGBTQ+ network event on Saturday, March 28 from 1 to 5 p.m. in Salem. Speakers emphasized that these are student‑led and family‑friendly events and stressed the importance of safety and visible community support.
The Pride planning subcommittee will meet again on Tuesday, March 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the police station training room to finalize logistics and outreach.
Committee members asked for volunteers and community partners to help staff events and provide safe spaces for attendees.
