The committee encouraged businesses and public venues to consider hosting the pieces.
The committee announced that HIC grant administrators — cited in the meeting as Dr. Charlie Desmond and Dr. Sarah Goodell O’Brien — awarded funding to eight grantee organizations in the program’s first year. The committee said grantees will be invited to future meetings to explain their work to the community.
Members also summarized a youth essay contest run in partnership with the school district. The committee named Oussie Koniff, a seventh grader at the middle school, as the middle‑school winner and Olivia Sanpierre as the high‑school winner; the committee noted Sanpierre was unable to attend the event and Peter Demora accepted the award on her behalf.
Committee members called the event “forces for change” and emphasized the value of student engagement and community partnerships in expanding the town’s programming.
The committee did not take a formal vote related to the grants during the meeting; it said it will schedule grantee presentations in coming months.
