New Berlin board honors Herb Cole winners and hears Eisenhower progress report

Teachers and students illustrated classroom practice: two students, Edvidi Vimuri and Emily Ma, described how morphology instruction (explicit work on word parts) transfers across subjects, including foreign language and science, to support vocabulary and comprehension.
District presenters also summarized assessment trends and interventions: staff reported growth on Fastbridge subtests tied to morphology instruction, increases in reading comprehension and gains for targeted intervention groups; administrators noted areas for continued focus — for example, ELA grammar and ACT functions — and highlighted co-curricular successes at Eisenhower, including a state academic decathlon title and multiple athletic and activities honors.
The board thanked staff and students and recessed the recognitions portion before moving to other agenda items.
