Parents and students urge Neshaminy board to return bowling team to Pendell Lanes

Parents and students urged the Neshaminy School District board to reconsider a prior decision moving the school bowling team from Pendell Lanes to an off‑district alley for the 2026–27 season.
At public comment, a parent identified as Regina Thaki argued the district should return matches and practices to Pendell because it is located inside the district, reduces travel time, keeps spending in the local community and provides secure equipment storage. "Returning to Pendell Lanes simply makes the most sense for our students, our families, and our district," she said.
Multiple student bowlers backed the request. One student, Anthony Powowski, said he has bowled at Pendell for years and prefers the lanes and the community environment. Students also said lane conditions and mid‑season oil changes at the current venue have affected performance. Another speaker, Case Green, emphasized that shorter travel would reduce lost instructional time during the eighth period. Parents also raised transportation safety concerns related to fitting teams into vans.
In response, a board member thanked the students for speaking, said many factors influenced the initial decision to move the team and committed to revisit the issue and speak with Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Lisa Pennington to explore options for next season.
The board did not take a vote on the matter during the meeting.
