Staff member Kylie read the proposed mission and vision to the commission: "Middleton Parks and Recreation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life by providing exceptional parks, conserve natural spaces, and inclusive recreational opportunities," and presented the tagline, "play, explore, belong." Staff said the inclusion statement commits the department to creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued.
Kylie described how the statements and core values will be used across the department and in the department's upcoming court (comprehensive) plan. A motion to recommend approval was made by Katie and seconded; the commission voted in favor and the motion carried.
What happens next: Staff will roll out the approved mission, vision and tagline through department communications and incorporate the language into strategic planning materials and future decisions.
