Ithaca students report on Morocco trip, fundraising and scholarships

Advisors said more than $15,000 in scholarship money was awarded this year to reduce costs for individual travelers and that, despite higher ticket prices, the program had kept per‑student costs under $2,500.
Students described visits to the Hassan II mosque, the medina in Rabat, markets in Fez and the blue city of Chefchaouen; they emphasized cultural exchange, language practice and group bonding. Advisors noted fundraising was largely local (leaf raking and yard work mentioned) and that visa issues prevented some planned international exchanges. The program also said 33% of travelers were first-time international travelers and 25% were students of color.
Board members thanked presenters and there were no formal actions tied to the trip at the meeting.
