City staff presented vendor quotes for multiple vehicles at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Feb. 9, including one‑ton/3/4‑ton dump trucks and SUVs from McCormick Motors, Oliver Ford, Auto Park and other dealers. The board voted to approve or take quotes under advisement and to advertise options where required.
Separately, staff asked to award a 2026 Ford Ranger crew cab whose quoted net cost after a $7,000 trade‑in was $28,919; the board approved awarding that bid. The engineering department also presented quotes for an AWD Rango and a Ford Explorer for staff use and asked the board to accept quotes and advertise as needed.
Chief Weir reported that Officer West’s hybrid cruiser has averaged about 22 miles per gallon compared with the department’s typical average of approximately 12 mpg. Based on that feedback, the chief proposed acquiring three hybrid vehicles (including ballistic doors), estimating each at about $46,401 for a total near $139,203 for three. The board approved trialing three hybrids.
All vendor awards and purchases noted in the meeting were approved by roll call where required; staff will return with final purchase paperwork and recommendations.
