The commission received a first reading of Ordinance OD 20325‑08 on Aug. 5, which would vacate a portion of an unopen and unimproved alley described in recorded plat records.
City Attorney described the parcel boundaries (south of 6th Street North to East, references to plat book and page were read into the record) and noted that the adjacent church owns property on both sides of the alley and has submitted required permits for planned work. A council member asked questions about location; staff said the drainage improvements would cover the area and that reviews and permits are in place.
Public comment: no members of the public spoke for or against the ordinance at first reading. The attorney said the item will return for a second reading on Aug. 19.
Next steps: the commission deferred final action to the scheduled second reading and public notice procedures will continue.
