Authority ratifies grant to support sewer connections, approves developer sewer dedications

The Lower Paxton Township Authority ratified a grant agreement at its Feb. 24 meeting to fund sewer main work that will allow a set of properties to connect to public sewer service. Staff said GHD prepared the grant application and the authority signatory approved it; the board was asked to ratify the action.
Authority staff described the Wilshshire project as intended to serve about a dozen affected property owners. Staff reported the total project cost is estimated around $390,000 and said the grant would cover roughly 85% of project costs, leaving an estimated local match of about $54,000; homeowners will still be responsible for the private work to install grinder pumps, electric service and plumbing to connect to the new force main. Melissa, who presented engineering details and associated paperwork, said the authority expects to notify affected property owners of their reduced costs and is working to finalize plats and paperwork.
The project and grant were moved and approved by voice vote. Board members asked about grant cycles and whether additional applications are possible; staff responded that applications can be submitted during subsequent cycles and that they plan to follow a schedule to complete the work within a year where feasible.
Separately, the board approved conditional dedication of developer-installed sewer work for two subdivisions: the portion of Cider Press already constructed (presented as a partial dedication) and Parkway Farms Phase Two. Staff said punch-list items are complete and that only legal plats and final paperwork remain to finalize dedication; the board approved those dedications by voice vote.
