Cinnaminson swears in new police chief, promotes captain and adds two officers

William Obuchowski was sworn in as police chief at the Cinnaminson Township Committee meeting on June 17, where the committee also promoted Roy Wagner to captain and took oaths from two newly hired officers, Zachary Edmonson and Julia Wheeler.
The committee read the oath as Obuchowski repeated: “I, William Obuchowski, swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey ... and that I will impartially and justly perform all duties of the office of police chief according to the best of my ability.” Attendees applauded as badges were presented and the signatures were completed.
The oath sequence continued with Roy Wagner taking the captain’s oath and both Zachary Edmonson and Julia Wheeler sworn in as police officers. Staff and committee members offered public congratulations, and the meeting acknowledged a plaque presented earlier recognizing the retirement of the department’s prior chief after 20 years of service.
Committee members praised the department’s continuity and the incoming leadership. The committee’s brief staff comments emphasized confidence in the promoted and newly hired officers and welcomed them to municipal service.
The committee moved on to regular business after the ceremony. The next scheduled meeting is Monday, July 15, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
