Conservation commission continues two solar project hearings and approves ADU septic order with conditions

At its meeting, the Acushnet Conservation Commission continued multiple large projects to allow applicants and consultants to return with revised materials and to accommodate schedules.
The commission granted continuances to Dec. 10, 2025, for two large solar projects: a Park Drive solar PV and battery storage proposal and the Clemens Way (1094 Main Street) solar project. The Park Drive filing seeks to amend an existing order for a ground‑mounted solar array and a 4,999 KW battery storage project within the 100‑foot buffer; the applicant requested more time to revise wetland crossings and flagging.
A separate NOI for ground‑mounted arrays at 1094 Main Street (Clemens Way Solar, represented in the filing by Rewild Renewables / Cleansway Solar and by Sarah Sterns of Bales & Thomas, per the filing) was also continued to Dec. 10 at the applicant’s request.
The commission also considered a continued NOI for 40 Qual Lane (Darren and Samantha Reyes) to allow construction of a one‑bedroom accessory dwelling unit and an expanded subsurface sewage disposal system. Outback Engineering’s Jack Sergeant presented revised septic plans and described setbacks and construction controls. The commission read and adopted special conditions including a preconstruction on‑site meeting with contractor within five days before construction, prohibitions on stockpiling and fueling in the buffer zone, and a requirement that a certificate of compliance be filed within 18 months. The motion to accept the order of conditions passed, with one commissioner registering an abstention.
Other items: a Gary Nichols NOI for Thomas Road was continued to Dec. 10 because the applicant was not represented; staff explained that state/public notice rules limit repeat mailings and that the meeting broadcast may be used to inform neighbors. The commission also accepted a proposed schedule of 2026 filing deadlines for WPA and stormwater review.
Next steps: continued applicants will appear Dec. 10 with revised materials or representation; the Reyes project must meet the special conditions before and during construction.
