The Acushnet Conservation Commission granted a negative determination on a Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA) for repairs to a four‑bedroom septic system at property listed in the filing as 49 Hathaway Road.
Rick Sharon of Sharon Associates introduced the project on behalf of the applicant and explained the replacement septic system is sited to provide a two‑foot groundwater separation and a minimum 50‑foot setback from flagged wetlands. "We've been able to get it over so we're 50 ft away from the flagged wetlands and we're able to give it a two‑ft groundwater separation," Sharon said, describing the proposed Elgen system and associated pump chamber and leaching field.
Commissioners who visited the site said the proposed repair appeared to be an improvement over the existing layout and voiced no substantive objections during the hearing. No members of the public spoke against the proposal.
The commission moved and approved a negative determination for the RDA, allowing the septic repair to proceed under the conditions discussed. Staff noted the work remains subject to applicable permitting and to Title 5 requirements.
Next steps: applicant to proceed with permitting and to comply with any inspection and certificate of compliance requirements tied to the septic repair.
