Electric utility director Alan Parkinson and finance staff presented the procurement details: a previously discussed estimate of $115,000 had been revised and staff reported a turnkey proposal near $69,000. Council members characterized that as a roughly $40,000 savings and supported proceeding to purchase.
Council members asked whether the existing generator will be retained; staff said the town will keep the old unit and cannibalize parts as needed because replacement parts are hard to obtain. Staff also confirmed the project is turnkey and that the public works/electric departments will assist with installation, including use of town heavy equipment. The project includes enclosing AC units and utility meters in the same area and will affect two police parking spots adjacent to the work area.
Council recorded the motion as passing unanimously with Council member Nichols absent. Staff said they will follow procurement procedures and return any needed budget adjustments to the council.
