Jordan Gaffy, Marshall County attorney, said the task force—a joint law-enforcement operation—requested funding to send six people to training, originally seeking $2,852.64 but reducing the request after learning registration was $300 per attendee rather than $350. The funding would cover conference registration and share three hotel rooms.
Gaffy and staff said the training covers best practices for opioid investigations, overdose response and connecting people with services; the county’s opioid-distribution committee treated the request as a small, time-sensitive application given the conference is this month. Gaffy noted the county’s office sometimes pays task-force bills directly and that staff might choose that approach rather than performing an interagency transfer.

Board action: Supervisors moved, seconded and approved the fund transfer and then adopted a resolution (2026-0012) formalizing the allocation and memorandum of understanding. Roll call recorded unanimous approval among those present.
