Board approves $17,114 change order for jail windows, courtroom hardware and concrete work

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors approved a change order tied to ongoing building work with Garling Construction, a county buildings-and-grounds representative said.
Lucas, a buildings-and-grounds staff member, characterized the request as “more of a housekeeping item” tied to previously approved work and said the change order covers work beyond the original contract scope that OPN helped to identify. The added items include exterior windows for the project, holding-cell concrete pads, courtroom door hardware changes ($14,635.36) and a courtroom floor box ($2,478.93), for a combined total of $17,114.29.
Staff reported that window deliveries were expected in the coming weeks and that rooftop-unit replacement on the jail building was scheduled to begin the week of the 23rd. The board moved, seconded and approved the change order and authorized the chair to sign.
Why it matters: The items are part of ongoing courthouse/jail improvements; staff said the work will proceed quickly upon delivery and that the changes reflect previously approved scope additions.
Board action: Motion carried on a voice/roll-call vote recorded as unanimous among those present.
