Quorum Court approves several appropriation ordinances covering workers’ comp, HVAC, AEDs and small equipment

At a Marion County Quorum Court budget meeting, justices approved a package of appropriation ordinances moving unappropriated funds to cover several county needs, including a late invoice for the AAC workers compensation trust, replacement of heating and cooling units at the court complex, replacement of automated external defibrillators in county buildings, and funding for small equipment, tools, and special clothing.

Staff explained the AAC workers-comp invoice arrived after the budget was finalized, leaving two accounts short; the court approved a transfer to correct the negative balances while noting final figures were still pending from AAC. A separate ordinance transferred funds from a local assistance tribal fund to replace court building HVAC units; members asked about the existence of a contract and were told a contract is in place.

The AED replacement ordinance was approved by voice vote to move funds into emergency-management safety for AED purchases. For small equipment and clothing, the sheriff submitted an amendment to adjust language and allocations; the court voted to accept the amendment and then voted on the amended ordinance.
