EDC to convey second parcel to Habitat for Humanity for single-family home development

The Texas City Economic Development Corporation voted Dec. 17 to convey a parcel (lot 410, GCAD ID 758485) to Habitat for Humanity for construction of a single-family home. Staff reported that a prior conveyance of a parcel at 6074th Street North resulted in a nearly completed home and that Habitat expects to hold a home dedication ceremony in January.
Staff described how the EDC previously reparceled a larger lot into four single-family-sized parcels and rezoned them for residential use; the parcel being conveyed at 4106th Avenue North had been identified as suitable for Habitat's second home build. Board members praised the partnership with Habitat and described the program as delivering homes through multiple funding streams.
A motion to approve resolution 2025-46 to convey the identified parcel to Habitat for Humanity carried unanimously by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will complete conveyance documents and coordinate with Habitat for Humanity on timing for closing, permitting and the planned dedication event.
