District 208 takes first read on consolidated district plan for federal funding

The Riverside-Brookfield Township High School District 208 board on April 14 received a first reading of the district’s consolidated plan, the state-required annual submission that streamlines information for multiple federal funding streams (Title I, II, III, IV and IDEA).
Administration explained the consolidated application is a recurring submission used to allocate federal funds and has been completed annually for decades. Staff noted two items that need correction or addition in the packet before the board can vote: building-level parent engagement procedures that were uploaded through the state portal but not included in the board packet, and an expanded description of dual-credit/early-college opportunities (Beyond Loyola and AP) to reflect submitted comments.
A staff member said the consolidated plan must be submitted to the state before the district can apply for the listed federal funds; failure to update the form would prevent applications for those funding streams. Administration said it would add the missing procedures and bring the matter back for board action at the next meeting. Several board members emphasized bilingual-staff capacity as an asset for parent communication and suggested that the board consider program updates during the budget and planning cycle.
