Council adopts housekeeping changes to 2026 fee schedule, adds beekeeping permits

Farmington City Council on March 16 adopted Ordinance 2026-002 to amend the city’s 2026 fee schedule, approving a set of clerical corrections and several small new fees.
City planning and parks staff identified a series of housekeeping items after adoption of the 2026 fee schedule in December 2025. Staff told the council the city will remove an ice-resurfacer advertising fee that remained on the books following a 2016 equipment purchase; that fee was tied to a one-time $10,000 private contribution and is no longer applicable. The council also approved adding a $16.95 fee for submittal of backflow assembly test records, correcting the classification of a $25,000 SWPPP compliance escrow to an inspection escrow, and fixing a typographical reference in the platting section.
Staff said the council’s beekeeping ordinance, passed in August 2025, included permit fees that were inadvertently omitted from the 2026 fee schedule; the council added an initial beekeeping permit of $100 and a renewal fee of $40.
Mayor and council members asked a few clarification questions; no members of the public spoke during the hearing. The council opened and closed the public hearing and then voted to pass the ordinance by roll call. Kelly (staff) handled the presentation and answered follow-up questions.
The ordinance takes effect as recorded in the city’s official filings. The council did not identify any additional changes to fee policy during the meeting; staff will implement the administrative corrections in the published fee schedule.
