WFRC announces $1.7 million in transportation-and‑land‑use planning awards for 2026

Meg (WFRC) announced the 2026 Transportation and Land Use Connection (TLC) awards, saying the program funded 15 new projects with roughly $1.7 million in project funds and approximately $300,000 of local match. The TLC program provides technical planning support—plans, design work, ordinances and implementation strategies—to help cities align land use and transportation investments.
Meg highlighted a handful of awards by county: Davis and Weber counties received a regional trails wayfinding signage plan; Ogden received funding for a Five Points Area master plan to support economic revitalization and connectivity; Copperton will undertake small‑area plans; and Midville will get in‑house support for a general plan land‑use element. Meg said the TLC program is now in its 13th year and maintains an online map with past projects and final deliverables.
Ogden’s project lead noted Five Points has significant regional economic impact and the master plan will focus on land‑use, infrastructure and revitalization to reconnect the node to downtown and nearby institutions. Meg emphasized the program helps cities implement Wasatch Choice Vision priorities and encouraged jurisdictions to consider TLC when they need zoning changes, design work or implementation strategies.
Why it matters: The awards provide direct technical and financial assistance to local governments and can accelerate station‑area and corridor planning, zoning updates and implementation efforts that make projects more competitive for larger capital funds.
What’s next: WFRC staff will begin project kickoffs with awardees and post project materials and timelines on the TLC online map.
