Wheatfield Board approves $282,651.18 in bills, authorizes Wendel contract, hires three part-time constables

Supervisor Don MacSwan moved and Councilman Randy Retzlaff seconded authorization for the Supervisor to sign a contract with Wendel to provide town engineering and planning services for 2026 per Wendel’s January 2, 2026 proposal; the motion carried unanimously.
Councilman Gilbert Doucet moved and Councilman Larry Helwig seconded to hire Bradley Wilke, Jeffrey Lisandrelli, and Jeremy Wilczek as part-time constables, effective immediately and contingent on Human Resources approval and Niagara County criminal background checks; the motion carried AYES 5, NAYS 0.
The board adopted the 2026 Casual Worker Wage Table, setting step increases across Recreation Aides, Grounds person, Laborers, Lifeguards, and Swimming Instructors. The wage table notes New York State minimum wage increased to $16.00 per hour as of Jan. 1, 2026. Councilman Larry Helwig moved the wage table and Councilman Randy Retzlaff seconded; the motion carried AYES 5, NAYS 0.
Other business approved included accepting the resignation of Matthew F. Klettke from the Zoning Board of Appeals effective Dec. 22, 2025, scheduling a special Town Board meeting on Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m., and changing the Feb. 9 regular meeting to Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
