Lincoln County School Board approves new soccer locker‑room building

The Lincoln County School Board unanimously approved construction of a new locker‑room building for the high‑school soccer programs after a presentation by Miss Gay Dempsey and representatives of the booster club and donors.

Dempsey told the board the current locker room is shared by both girls’ and boys’ teams and described plans for a second, donor‑funded facility that would provide separate spaces, a coach entrance removed from player areas and an indoor location for players to take ice baths rather than doing so outside. She said a donor (Miss Gay) and booster‑club fundraising, together with a planned loan, will cover construction costs and that the group hopes to complete work by July if construction proceeds immediately.

“...we have been able to come to be able to financially provide to build another locker room,” Dempsey said, describing donor support and booster‑club work on financing and logistics. She added that the project includes security and maintenance considerations and that the booster club would assist with upkeep.

Board members moved and seconded a motion to approve the construction request; the motion passed with members responding “aye” when the chair called for the vote.

The presentation noted work already under way with local contractors and volunteers — including a member handling lighting — and pledged coordination with school maintenance resources. The board did not discuss a specific construction budget or a lender name on the record; Dempsey said donors and a loan are lined up.
